We encourage folks to send in photos for EQUALIZED. We can’t get pictures of everything and your help is appreciated.

That said, here are a few things we are looking for:

• Photos of graffiti and street art in Grand Rapids, Michigan… and Grand Rapids only!
• Graffiti on the streets. We’re interested in graffiti that is up on the streets of Grand Rapids. That’s the essence of graffiti and it’s what we’re out to document. We don’t want pictures of tags in your basement or pieces on your garage.
• Photos from established writers. Everyone starts somewhere, but we’re out to document writers and/or folks who show serious potential.
• Photos from before 2003. Our archive is pretty complete from 2003 on, but there isn’t much before that. Writers have been painting Grand Rapids for years—send in old photos if you have them!

Here is what we don’t want:

• Graffiti containing racist, sexist, homophobic, or other oppressive comments or subject matter. There’s enough of that crap everywhere else in the world.
• Gang graffiti. That’s not our thing. EQUALIZED is down with the graffiti subculture, we aren’t down with gangs.
• Photos of you and/or other writers “in action.” This is a public website and it would not be very smart to send in photos of writers bombing and/or posing by their latest work.

We don’t necessarily post everything that we get sent, but we do our best to have a good representation of what can be seen on the streets of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
